Garden Club Winter Workshops: Creativity, Community & a Head Start on Spring!
While winter still has a firm grip outside, things are warming up at the Garden Club with a wonderful lineup of hands-on workshops designed to spark creativity and prepare us for the coming gardening season. We’re excited to invite members, friends, neighbors, and new faces to join us for our January and February meetings—both open to the public and perfect for all ages (children welcome with an accompanying adult).
🌱 January Meeting: Winter Sowing Workshop & Seed Swap
Start your spring garden now—yes, in the middle of winter! At our January meeting, we’ll be hosting a Winter Sowing Workshop, demonstrating how to turn recycled milk jugs into mini greenhouses perfect for starting hardy seeds outdoors.
Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring a clear plastic container such as a milk jug. All other materials will be provided.
We’ll also be holding a Seed Swap, so feel free to bring any extra seeds you'd like to share. Whether you’re new to gardening or a seasoned pro, winter sowing is an easy, low-cost way to get a jump start on spring.
💐 February Meeting: Create Your Own Glass Garden Flowers
February brings a burst of color and creativity with our Glass Flower Workshop. Using upcycled glass plates, bowls, vases, and other glassware, you’ll learn how to assemble stunning glass flowers that can brighten your garden all year long.
Participants should bring three pieces of glassware that stack well together to create a pretty flower. A $10 fee covers glue, flower base, and instruction. Once you learn the technique, you’ll be able to fill your garden with beautiful, unique glass blooms.
This workshop is open to all adults, and pre-registration is required. Prepayment is appreciated to help us prepare supplies. Click here to Pre-register
🌿 Sneak Peek: March Meeting – Make Your Own Seed Strips!
Looking ahead, March will feature a fun and practical workshop on making seed strips—a simple, mess-free way to get perfectly spaced seeds ready for planting in spring. It’s great for gardeners of all skill levels and a wonderful project for kids, too. More details coming soon!
We hope you’ll join us for these creative and community-centered winter gatherings. Let’s learn, grow, and dream of spring together!
